Missionary Training Center - Provo, Utah

Called to serve in the Oregon Eugene Mission!!

We received our call on December 14, 2021 via email.  We were a little bit
nervous as we read the email even though we had specifically asked to served
in the Oregon Eugene Mission.  As we expected that is where we were assigned
with a date to report to the Missionary Training Center to begin training on
March 7, 2022.  We wanted all of the children and grandchildren to know of our
call at the same time so we scheduled a zoom call for Wednesday, December 15,
as Stan had to serve in the Bountiful temple on Tuesday evening.  I don't think
it was unexpected where we were called to serve to anyone.  A few days later
after connecting with our Mission President, President Brett Weekes, he
informed us that we would be assigned to the Ashland Ward in the
Medford Oregon Stake.  We were elated to know that we would be living at
1004 Clay St,  Ashland which is only 1.2 miles from my parents.  A blessing from
Heavenly Father to allow us to serve here so that we can help out Mom and Dad.
Dad is dealing with health issues with Alzheimer's and want to give Mom some
emotional support and allow her to take a break once in awhile. So grateful!

Trying to show where our mission is at on the map in the MTC.

Our MTC group on the first day!

The first day at the Missionary Training Center was a busy day!  Spent the entire day getting  orientated.  Got settled into our room, went and got our missionary tags and information  regarding what is happening for the week and then to an orientation from
the MTC Presidency.  Then off to lunch and more orientation in the afternoon.  Had a devotional on Monday evening, (the first day) from the MTC President for all new missionaries. The rest of the first week was spent in classes for the majority of the time
with young returned missionaries teaching us in Preach My Gospel!  They did an
absolutely fantastic job in getting us to prepared in many different ways to teach the
gospel.  Evenings were filled with devotionals, firesides and attending the temple.
We returned home on Friday evening and continued to get our home in order
before leaving on our mission.  Returned to the MTC on Sunday evening for a
devotional and another week of training specific to MLS (Member Leadership Support) missionaries.  Was another busy and fantastic week of training.  Not quite to intense
and a little bit more down time.  Worked with us on using social media, family history,
self-reliance, working with Young Single Adults, how to work with the local wards and branches and a multitude of other things.  All those that instructed us were extremely
good!  Lots of hard work but so inspiring.  Loved the spirit that we felt at the MTC!

MTC Fireside with Elder Neil A. Anderson!
Such a special experience!  We were richly blessed!

Sister Sunday enjoying the spirit of the fireside!

Can't imagine how much food is consumed here each day!  Best part
was eating and mingling with the young missionaries!
